Get to Know Our Board

Comprised of nine members, the Ecore Board of Directors, is responsible for the corporate governance of the organization as it leads the charge toward a circular rubber economy by making products that are better for our people and our planet.

Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer and President, Ecore Partner and Co-founder of CommonWealth Equity Partners

Art was born in Heidelberg Germany and raised in Lancaster, PA. He graduated from American University, Washington, DC with a Bachelor of Arts degree and from the University of Pittsburgh with a Juris Doctor degree in Law. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from IMD, Lausanne, Switzerland.

Art currently serves as the Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer, and President of Ecore, where he has worked since 1989. Other companies he has worked for include Shearson Lehman in Lancaster, PA from 1979 to 1981 and Bain & Co in London, England from 1985 to 1988.

In 2018, Art was elected Director of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) and Chairman of the ISRI’s Tire Chapter. ISRI, a non-profit trade association consisting of more than 1,600 private and public for-profit companies, promotes public awareness of the value and importance of recycling in the production of goods and services worldwide. Art also served three consecutive terms on the Lancaster School Board. His is also the former Chairman of the Keystone Chapter of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO).

Art resides in Lancaster, PA with his wife, Justina, and two daughters, Sloane, and Camilla. Art also has 3 adult children: Marc, Natalie, and Emilie.

Managing Director and Co-founder of CommonWealth Equity Partners

Rob was born and raised on the east coast where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from Columbia University. He then received a Master’s in Business Administration from The Wharton School.

Rob moved to Seattle and worked at Microsoft for 21 years and last served as the Chief Environmental Strategist. During his time at Microsoft, Rob founded and managed the company’s sustainability programs and technology investments, ran the Global Software Partnership Business, and created the world’s first international carbon neutral company. In February 2023, Rob joined CBRE as the Chief Sustainability Officer and SVP Client Sustainability Solutions.

Rob has served on several boards over the year, including the Breakthrough Energy Coalition, Corporate EcoForum, Advanced Energy Economy, UC Davis Energy Efficiency Center, and The Green Grid Alliance.

Rob currently resides in Washington, D.C.

Managing Director and Co-founder of CommonWealth Equity Partners

Born in Weirton, WV, Michael graduated first in his class with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from The Georgia Institute of Technology. He then received a Master’s in Business Administration from The Wharton School and was a Palmer Scholar.

Michael has a wealth of professional experience. He has 24 years of experience in private and growth equity investing. Michael currently serves as a Managing Director of CommonWealth Equity Partners and a Managing Director of Element Partners. He also has experience serving as a Managing Director at Activate Capital, a Partner at Cordova Ventures, a Principal at EnerTech Capital, and a Senior Associate at Safeguard International Fund. Prior to private equity, Michael had roles as a consultant at Booz-Allen & Hamilton and in Corporate Finance at Ford Motors.

Michael has served on 18 boards over the years, including TPI Composites (Nasdaq: TPIC), Agility Fuel Systems, Aspex, TAS Energy, Detechtion, International Fiber Corp, Energex, EcoSmart Technologies, Axonn, and Arbinet (Nasdaq:ARBX).

Michael currently resides in Malvern, PA with his wife Sherri and children Isabella and Nicholas.

Jan was born in Plainfield, NJ and raised in Carlisle, PA. Jan graduated from The George School and then Lafayette College in Easton, PA. She completed Masters level course work at Temple University and has participated in Executive Leadership Programs offered by Harvard Business School and Wharton at the University of Pennsylvania.

Jan retired in 2021 as the President and Chief Executive Officer at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, a $1.4 Billion health system serving central Pennsylvania. She joined Lancaster General in January of 2000 as Senior Vice President of Ambulatory Care and Lancaster General Women and Babies Hospital. In 2007, she was promoted to Executive Vice President of the health system overseeing strategy development and execution and advancement of Mission. In October 2010, she served for eight months as President and CEO when the seating CEO was called to active duty in the Navy. Following that interim role, in July 2011, Jan served as President, Lancaster General Health Network and Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the health system. Jan assumed the role of President and Chief Operating Officer in 2015, and continued to lead the organization through rapid period growth and expansion and introduced LEAN performance management to drive efficiency and high performance across all clinical specialties and other functions. She was also recognized nationally for leading community initiatives and partnerships that improve the health status of the communities Lancaster General Health served.

Prior to LGH, Jan was Senior Vice President for Bryn Mawr Hospital, a 400-bed acute care facility in Bryn Mawr, PA, a part of the Jefferson Health System. She also served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Bryn Mawr Rehabilitaion Hospital, a 200-bed, nationally recognized rehab facility in Paoli, PA.

In addition to serving on Ecore Board, Jan serves on the Board of Managers of the Milton Hershey School, a Director on the Hershey Trust Company Board, an appointed Commissioner on the Pennsylvania Early Learning Commission, a Director of the Clinic for Special Children, and Committee Chair of the American Hospital Association's prestigious Foster G. McGaw Prize. Her prior civic service includes serving on the boards of the United Way, the Lancaster County Community Foundation, the Junior League, Lancaster Country Day School, North Museum and the James Street Improvement District.

Jan and her husband, Thomas, who is a Corporate/Tax Attorney, live in Lancaster, PA. They have two daughters and two grandchildren of which they are particularly proud of.

Lori Dowling was born in Nyack, NY and raised in upstate New York. Lori graduated from Bucknell University with a B.A. in Business.

Lori spent 16 years with Armstrong World Industries with her last role as Vice President of Commercial Flooring Sales.

In 1998, Lori became the President and CEO of StarNet Commercial Flooring Cooperative (now known as StarNet Worldwide Commercial Flooring Partnership). At StarNet, Lori developed the organizations strategy and led execution, which resulted in growing the network from 50 to over 200 flooring contractor members in six years. In 2008. Lori was identified as one of the top 20 women in the flooring industry by Floor Covering News.

She spent nine years with StarNet, before joining the Ecore Board of Directors in 2010 and serving as President of Ecore Commercial from 2011-2015.

An avid traveler, golfer and skier, Lori currently resides with her husband, Ken in Breckenridge, Colorado.

Andrea (Andi) Funk is the EVP & Chief Financial Officer of EnerSys (NYSE: ENS), the global industrial technology leader in energy systems and storage for material handling, broadband, telecom, transportation, reserve power, and aerospace and defense applications. She has been with EnerSys since 2018, and previously served as the Chief Executive Officer (2013-2018) and Chief Financial Officer & Treasurer (2010-2013) of Cambridge-Lee Industries LLC, a $500M global leader in the manufacture of copper tubing and distribution of copper-focused products. Prior, she served in various finance, business development and operational leadership roles with Carpenter Technology, Arrow International, Rhone-Poulenc Rorer and Bell Atlantic, and worked as an auditor with Ernst & Young.

Andi sits on the Board of Directors and Audit and Compensation Committees of Crown Holdings (NYSE: CCK) and the Board of Directors, Audit (Chair) and Finance Committees of Touchpoint Inc., as well as the Board of Directors and Audit Committee of Ecore International.

Ms. Funk is active in her community, currently serving as a Trustee for Caron Treatment Centers, a leading addiction treatment center. She is the Investment Committee Chair for the Berks County Chamber of Commerce, where she is also a Board member, as well as a Board member for the Berks Business Education Coalition and leads the PeaceTrust for Safe Berks, a local women's shelter.

Andi earned an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in 2001. She earned her CPA in 1993 and has an undergraduate degree in Accounting with a minor in Sociology from Villanova University., received in 1991.

Ms. Funk lives in Reading, PA with her three children: Bailey, Maddie and Julian. She enjoys spending time with her children,

Craig holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Rochester. 

Craig is the friendly founder of hello products and former Chief Innovation Strategist of Colgate-Palmolive. At Colgate, Craig helped unleash the power of design, creativity and entrepreneurial thinking to take Colgate’s products, people and purpose to new heights.  hello, the world’s first naturally friendly™ oral care brand, was acquired by Colgate in January of 2020.

Prior to hello, Craig was co-founder and creative lead at eos products, founding board member at method products, and a strategic advisor to Seventh Generation, Boots, and to various Private Equity funds. Craig is the Chairman of the Advisory Board for Lexicon, the premier naming consultancy behind category-defining brands such as Impossible Foods, Sonos, Swiffer and Fabreze (for P+G), Dasani (for Coke), Blackberry, Pentium and Centrino (for Intel), Macbook and Powerbook (for Apple), X-box (for Microsoft), LaserJet and DeskJet (for HP), Optic White (for Colgate), Scion (for Toyota) and the new Lucid Air.

Craig is an inductee in the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization (CEO) Hall of Fame, an Entrepreneur in Residence at Babson, and serves as Advisory Council Member at the Ain Center for Entrepreneurship at The Simon School of Business at The University of Rochester. Craig and his wife have 2 children, a labradoodle puppy, 2 foster-fail cats, and 12 chickens. He resides in Stockton, NJ.

Gene was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Mt. Gretna, PA. He obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of Notre Dame, and he attended law school at the University of Virginia.

Gene clerked for federal judges in Washington, D.C. and then in Richmond, VA. He was an attorney at Barley Snyder in Lancaster and currently works as the Managing Director at Sageworth Trust Company, where he has been employed for the past 16 years.

Gene and his wife, Cindy, currently reside in East Hempfield Township with their two boys, Gene and Dillon. Gene is an avid surfer and skier.

Joe was born and raised in Columbus, OH. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Economics from The Ohio State University and also holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Information Technology from Carnegie Mellon University.

Joe is a founder and the Managing Partner of Timber Bay Partners. Prior to this, Joe held many successful positions. He was Managing Director and Head of Secondary Investments at Fort Washington Capital Partners Group, a private equity investment firm with $3.3 billion in private equity commitments. While here, Joe led Fort Washington’s secondary practice and was a member of its Investment Committee. Joe also served as Director of Emerging Businesses at Best Buy Co. Inc. He managed a team of eight professionals and was responsible for identifying, evaluating, and developing emerging business opportunities. Before Best Buy, Joe was a Vice President at Mellon Ventures, where he sourced, evaluated, negotiated, structured, documented, and monitored private equity investments for the $1.4 billion private equity investment partnership affiliated with Mellon Financial Corporation. Joe began his career as a Senior Associate and Certified Public Accountant at Coopers & Lybrand LLC, where he provided professional business advisory services for investment banking, commercial banking, mutual funds, and middle market manufacturing industries. Joe currently resides in Cincinnati, OH with his wife and two children.
