Product safety and recycled rubber products

ECORE has made a thriving business out of finding creative ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. We are in fact North America’s largest user of scrap tire rubber. Each year, we recycle 80 million pounds of scrap tire rubber, helping conserve more than 1 million barrels of oil in the process to convert pliable treads into durable products for the construction, consumer, commercial, industrial and sports and leisure markets.

Our corporate tradition is rooted in doing what's right long-term for the environment while at the same time striving in all parts of our business to exceed our customers’ expectations and make their experience with our organization and portfolio of brands a positive one. This includes a strong commitment to ensure personal health and safety associated with use of our products.

ECORE is committed to producing safe products that meet or exceed all governmental and industry standards for performance as well as safety. Our recycled rubber based products have been rigorously tested by independent laboratories and toxicologists using the most current methodologies and state-of-the-art technologies to insure they are not associated with adverse health affects. When used for the purposes for which they were intended, all ECORE products containing recycled rubber are safe and pose no known health risks.

Furthermore, our recycled rubber products are PVC free and meet the stringent, State of Washington and EPA standards for indoor air quality. Our products have passed the strictest indoor air quality tests and assurance methods for low emissions of total volatile organic compounds (VOC’s). (This includes meeting the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) criteria (Section 01350) for indoor air quality in classrooms as described in the State of California's Department of Health Services Standard Practice. The emission test followed the California Department of Health Services “Standard Practice for the Testing of Volatile Organic Emissions from Various Sources Using Small-Scale Environmental Chambers”, commonly referred to as the CA Section 01350 protocol.)

ECORE products also meet IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) purchase requirements for the State of Washington, OSHA’s formaldehyde emission criteria and the U.S. EPA’s IAQ guidelines and primary air standards.

Air quality may be affected not only by emissions from the flooring material itself, but also by the adhesives used to attach the floor. Therefore ECORE recommends the use of our own adhesives, cleaners and sealers. ECORE’s recommended adhesive—E Grip III -- isa solvent free, anti-microbial, Zero-VOC, very low odor, one-component urethane adhesive. The VOC content in E-Grip III complies with all adhesive applications listed by the SCAQMD Rule #1168. SCAQMD is the California “South Coast Air Quality Management District” Rule 1168 for adhesive flooring and sealant applications.

At ECORE, we are committed to developing innovative, sustainable products that meet the highest standards of quality and safety. We test our materials regularly and as new guidelines and standards are released, we will continue to document our product safety and compliance within all published industry and governmental parameters.
