At ECORE we don’t just insist on the highest quality materials for our production processes - we actually make them ourselves. Our vertically integrated manufacturing system gives us complete control over our own, carefully created raw materials, insuring reliable feed stock and allowing us to be our own primary material component supplier.
ECORE currently processes over 80 million pounds of recycled rubber annually, making us the largest producer of high quality crumb rubber under one roof. Our capabilities include grinding, screening, and removing stone, wood, paper, fluff, fiber, and other materials from scrap tire rubber to produce exacting specifications that meet or exceed our customers internal, external, and ASTM specifications. With our state of the art equipment, experienced staff, and 100 million pound capacity, we are uniquely capable of producing the cleanest, most consistent, and highest quality material available in the market place.
We test all materials to ASTM standards and utilize the latest technology to ensure the cleanest product available; free from ferrous metal, stones, fiber, and other contaminants. We can also provide our customers with certification that includes a sieve distribution, fiber content analysis, moisture analysis, and an ash test, all performed in our laboratory.
ECORE also produces its own line of EPDM. Branded as ColorMill® EPDM, it is peroxide cured to ensure low odor and color vividness. Comprised of 20% post-industrial waste, it is one of only a few EPDM lines in the U.S.A. to boast recycled content. The inclusion of ColorMill® EPDM in our products reinforces our commitment to excellence and enables us to have complete control of the quality, color, and design of everything we make.
ECORE International’s quality management system for the manufacturing and distribution of rubber, cork, and cork/rubber products for non-flooring applications has been certified to ISO 9001:2000. Globally recognized and respected, ISO 9001:2000 standards are set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), a Geneva-based worldwide federation of national standard bodies. This certification demonstrates ECORE’s commitment to and implementation of a dedicated, systematic, and quantifiable approach to quality-of-service standards through a rigorous auditing process. ISO 9001:2000 standards specify organizational requirements in documentation, procedures, and operations for a quality management system and are important for companies focused on demonstrating the ability to consistently provide products or services that meet customer satisfaction and applicable regulatory requirements.
Product safety and recycled rubber products
ECORE has made a thriving business out of finding creative ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. We are in fact North America’s largest user of scrap tire rubber. Each year, we recycle 80 million pounds of scrap tire rubber, helping to conserve more than one million barrels of oil in the process to convert pliable treads into durable products for the construction, consumer, commercial, industrial, and sports and leisure markets.
Our corporate tradition is rooted in doing what's right long-term for the environment while at the same time striving in all parts of our business to exceed our customers’ expectations and make their experience with our organization and portfolio of brands a positive one. This includes a strong commitment to ensuring personal health and safety as associated with the use of our products.
ECORE is committed to producing safe products that meet or exceed all government and industry standards for performance as well as safety. Our recycled rubber based products have been rigorously tested by independent laboratories and toxicologists using the most current methodologies and state-of-the-art technologies to insure they are not associated with adverse health affects. When used for the purposes for which they are intended, all ECORE products containing recycled rubber are safe and pose no known health risks.
Furthermore, our recycled rubber products are PVC free and meet the stringent State of Washington and EPA standards for indoor air quality. Our products have passed the most rigid indoor air quality tests and assurance methods for low emissions of total volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This includes meeting the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) criteria (Section 01350) for indoor air quality in classrooms as described in the State of California's Department of Health Services Standard Practice. The emission test followed the California Department of Health Services “Standard Practice for the Testing of Volatile Organic Emissions from Various Sources Using Small-Scale Environmental Chambers,” commonly referred to as the CA Section 01350 protocol.
ECOsurfaces commercial flooring, Everlast sports surfacing with Nike Grind, and PlayGuard safety surfacing have all earned FloorScore certification. The FloorScore program was developed by the Resilient Floor Covering Institute (RFCI) in conjunction with Scientific Certification Systems (SCS), which tests and certifies flooring, as well as flooring adhesive products, and certifies production facilities for compliance with rigorous indoor air quality emission requirements. Individual volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are evaluated using health-based specifications.
ECORE products also meet IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) purchase requirements for the State of Washington, OSHA’s formaldehyde emission criteria, and the U.S. EPA’s IAQ guidelines and primary air standards.
Air quality may be affected not only by emissions from the flooring material itself, but also by the adhesives used to install the floor. Therefore, ECORE recommends the use of our own adhesives, cleaners, and sealers. ECORE’s recommended adhesive - E Grip III - is a solvent free, anti-microbial, zero-VOC, very low odor, one-component urethane adhesive. The VOC content in E-Grip III complies with all adhesive applications listed by the SCAQMD Rule #1168 (the California “South Coast Air Quality Management District” Rule for adhesive flooring and sealant applications) and meets the CHPS Low-Emitting Materials criteria (section 01350) for use in a typical classroom as described in the CA Department of Health Services (CDHS) Standard Practice.
At ECORE, we are committed to developing innovative, sustainable products that meet the highest standards of quality and safety. We test our materials regularly and as new guidelines and standards are released, we will continue to document our product safety and compliance within all published industry and government parameters.
